Pero en tanto construcción social de la realidad, la magia no es únicamente de naturaleza abstracta, impli­ca la práctica de la brujería en sus dos vertientes: tanto medicina simbólica como hechicería para causar daño. Es así como brujo/curandero y paciente/cliente están inmersos en una dinámica que fusiona la razón simbólica con la del conocimiento empírico, incomprensible para quien ve desde fuera, pero completamente real para los involucrados. A partir del trabajo etnográfico, Guido Münch Galindo presenta una obra que conjunta los antecedentes europeos de la magia con su práctica contemporánea en la región tuxteca, que contrasta la revelación iniciática de los sueños con el uso más o menos reciente de la brujería como atractivo turístico, que transita entre los partícipes de esta realidad a la vez que ofrece una interpretación de este sistema simbólico.
