Una cada vez menor cantidad de mujeres y, en ocasiones, también hombres pertenecientes a esta etnia –asentada en su mayoría al suroeste del Estado de Chihuahua en el norte de México– tejen principalmente fajas o cinturones que forman parte de su vestimenta tradicional. A pesar de formar parte de ésta, el tejer y los textiles parecen ser una actividad y un objeto poco valorados y cada vez en menor práctica y uso, particularmente en el contexto urbano. Sin embargo, tras participar en la cotidianidad y tratar de entender el lugar que ocupa el tejer en esta etnia, puede sugerirse un vínculo entre los diseños tejidos, los textiles y las narraciones acerca del origen del mundo y elementos cosmológicos.
